Weekly Matchups
And taking a look at the table, wow. 6 teams on 12 points and 3 on 9 is absurd. Anyway, MatthewR takes the top spot with Coop rocketing up to 2nd, Luke stays in 3rd, I drop to 4th, Chris moves up a couple to 5th, just ahead of Kevin who drops a spot. Zach moves down a few spots to lead our group on 9 points, ahead of Dylan and Darryan on PF. Jesse drops a spot as the sole manager on 6, with Alex now overtaking John and moving to 3 points.
Game changers! Oops I traveled this weekend so details are gonna be sparse.
- Alex: Marc Guehi - 6 pts - A clean sheet in what was definitely not a controversial first match back from the ~~international~~lawsuit break for Manchester City. I think legally because I have to be an impartial party I cannot comment on it (don't look at my comments on Tottenham this season) (they're totally guilty)
- Kevin: Morgan Rogers - 9 pts - Apparently Alex Scott was the glue holding Bournemouth together because geez guys you're gonna let Chelsea score 5?? Brentford conceded 0 and you think this performance is enough for the letter B at the beginning of your name? Anyway, Rogers got a goal and 13 defcon against ournemouth.
- Dylan: Maxim De Cuyper - 15 pts - He's basically the DEF version of Gross except he's playing out of position and every week everyone goes "is he gonna get benched yet" and then he drops another double digit score. Solid goal + clean sheet + 3 bonus against Sunderland this week.
- Darryan: Riccardo Califiori - 9 pts - DEF FC continues on as Arsenal's first goal against Leeds came yet again from the left back. Solid 3 goal contributions this season for the Italian.
- Coop: Joao Pedro - 12 pts - A fortuitous injury to Gakpo this week as Pedro was auto-subbed for Coop along with his 2 goals and 2 bonus points against ournemouth as the Blues had to fix their average goals per game after not scoring against Brentford.
- Chris: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - 13 pts - Kiernan Dewsbury-Haul is back with a goal and an assist to lead Everton to a 2-2 draw against the best team in the league, Hull City. Also, shoutout to Botman whose screamer was the real winner of this matchup for Chris.
And heading into our 4 week long October, Coop takes the early lead on PF! And Dylan is the only other manager on 50+!
Manager of the Month
And finally, we can complete the suite of tables (until the end of the season) with the form table! On which, MatthewR takes the top spot on PF over me, with 12/15 points earned in the last 5 weeks!
Form Table
Next week will see some great matchups, headlined by a top 3 matchup between Coop and Luke! Elsewhere, I look to bounce back against Chris and Zach takes on MatthewR! Full matchups are as follows:
- Jesse (10) vs Alex (11)
- Dylan (8) vs John (12)
- Darryan (9) vs Kevin (6)
- Coop (2) vs Luke (3)
- Chris (5) vs Matthew (4)
- Zach (7) vs MatthewR (1)
Shoutouts this week go to Chris and Kevin for picking up back to back wins!

The League of Champions
Welcome to gameweek 7 of the League of Champions and our first round of the knockout stage! But before we get to the matchups for next week, let's take a look at the most influential results of the last week! Starting with Alex, whose 28-26 victory over Travis took him out of the elimination places and into the playoffs! The only other manager who managed to move into a different qualification bracket this week was Kevin, whose 34-26 win over Charlotte saw him move from the playoff spots up to 5th and directly into the Round of 16. Full results are as follows:
- John 24-32 Jackson
- Kevin 34-26 Charlotte
- Zach 44-66 Tori
- Darryan 38-36 Maddie
- Alex 28-26 Travis
- Luke 30-35 JohnM
- Matthew 23-28 Gavin
- Dylan 51-35 Cole
- Coop 52-44 ZachA
- MatthewR 41-60 Angus
- Chris 46-26 Scott
- Jesse 28-50 Andrew
- Mack 21-34 Aarushi
- Amber 33-31 Emma
- ChrisB 35-29 Katie
- Kim 27-42 Morgan
- Delaney 38-26 Brylan
- Morgs 30-49 Anthony
And of course, that means our group stage has finished and our knockout rounds are set. Congratulations to Chris for finishing 1st in the table with an undefeated 18 points! The top 8 ended up coming down to PF, with 8th place just 3 points ahead of 9th, so definitely goes to show just how much every single point is worth!

And looking ahead to the first round of the knockouts: the playoffs! The managers from 9th to 24th will face off in a single-leg matchup to determine who will move onto the Round of 16, where a top 8 contender is waiting! Probably the most highly anticipated matchup of that playoff pairing is, of course, Dylan vs Amber! Where we really will get to see how valuable that Calafiori pick is. Elsewhere, I go up against Darryan as the universe seems to want us to play 2 weeks in a row and Coop takes on Mack in what should be an interesting one! Full matchups are as follows:
Dylan vs Amber (winner plays Chris)
MatthewR vs Travis (winner plays Katie)
Zach vs Morgan (winner plays Aarushi)
ChrisB vs Kim (winner plays Scott)
Anthony vs Jesse (winner plays Luke)
Matthew vs Darryan (winner plays Kevin)
Coop vs Mack (winner plays Gavin)
Tori vs Alex (winner plays Charlotte)
Good luck to all of our remaining teams, and welcome to the knockouts!

Power Rankings
I'm gonna be honest I might fly through these because it is Thursday night and I gotta go to sleep at a reasonable hour.
On the bubble (in no order): Matthew, Morgan, Chris, Dylan, Angus Fell off: Matthew
10 - Anthony (NEW) - League C - Last 5: 43 (W), 71 (W), 34 (W), 39 (W), 49 (W) - Anthony's been on a roll in League C, picking up his 5th win in a row and finally landing himself that #1 spot on the table this week. And, unlike the other Isak owner, he had plenty of uninjured subs to fill in this week, with Solanke picking up a goal, Cherki scoring of course, Anderson, Wharton, and even Maitland-Niles bringing home assists, and Vuskovic being on what, 1 of the 2 teams to keep a clean sheet? A big week for Anthony when a lot of other teams had some trouble coming back from the international break and a huge +1 on the table.
9 - ChrisB (+1) - League B - Last 5: 58 (W), 40 (W), 44 (L), 68 (W), 35 (W) - Despite also being hit by the international break injury bug that knocked out Alex Scott, Pedro Porro, Brian Brobbey, and apparently Szoboszlai, he did what was needed to win and keep his good form going in League B. That is, he had Nicolas Jackson and Morgan Rogers both come home with 9s and Ajer scored a goal that surely was not as good as his one over the international break. Also, Sarr is back? Maybe?
8 - MatthewR (+1) - League A - Last 5: 51 (W), 40 (W), 41 (W), 56 (W), 41 (L) - An unfortunate loss for MatthewR this week as he went up against the buzzsaw that was an Adam Wharton and Daichi Kamada midfield, but he still outscored the average off the back of a double 10 from Cherki and Cunha. Plus, Strand Larsen and Rutter both got assists. One of them did the job in 80 less minutes on the field though. And actually if Rutter had started, he would've probably had 45 assists so Hurzeler out?
7 - Aarushi (-3) - League C - Last 5: 51 (L), 33 (W), 50 (W), 34 (L), 34 (L) - Aarushi bookended the international break with 34 points, which isn't great considering her earlier form. Other than Doku, who obviously picked up a 12 pointer this week and Gross who halved that amount, not a lot was going on. Ndiaye and Odegaard were quiet, no team was keeping clean sheets this weekend, and Newcastle looks… rough.
6 - Andrew (+1) - League B - Last 5: 28 (L), 32 (D), 54 (W), 41 (W), 50 (W) - A huge week for Andrew as he picked up his 3rd 40+ in a row and fended off ZachA's 44 pointer. A lot of 1s and a -1, but also JP scored 2, Evanilson scored his first of the season, Vuskovic and Verbruggen kept like, the only clean sheet in the league, and Gross returned, yet Andrew is still losing the Gross for Rogers trade after 1 week (by 3). Also, Andrew's bench kinda popped off, with 14 points between the 3 outfield players.
5 - Katie (-2) - League C - Last 5: 80 (W), 37 (L), 54 (L), 45 (W), 29 (L) - A rough loss by 3 points this week as Katie falters. Which might be the plan considering her on-weeks are 45+ scores. Good luck to whoever has to play her next. Anyway, Evanilson and Matheus Nunes were the only returns, but Rio had a great game in the Champions League so that probably deserves some FPL points.
4 - Luke (+2) - League A - Last 5: 45 (W), 37 (L), 44 (W), 48 (W), 30 (L) - Similarly, Luke had a tough loss this week as he lost by 7x the margin Katie did. And less similarly, he had 3 players who returned: Manzambi, Palmer, and Gross. It's too bad that amounted to 1 more point than the team with only 2 returners did. Certainly doesn't help he keeps trusting the Newcastle goalkeeper over the Manchester City one. Is anyone tracking how many points he's lost to this decision?
3 - Zach (+2) - League A - Last 5: 45 (L), 35 (L), 55 (W), 40 (W), 44 (L) - And also very much like Luke and Katie, Zach saw his lead slip away as Botman scored an absolute screamer to seal his 2 point loss. Still, a solid score (and scores over the past few weeks) keep the Haaland owner moving up the board. It also helps he had 3 players from the 2 teams who kept clean sheets and Declan Rice who got his 3rd assist of the season this week. Maybe things would've been different if Schade and Willock made it to 60'. Guess we'll never know.
2 - Charlotte (-) - League C - Last 5: 50 (W), 42 (W), 47 (W), 71 (W), 26 (L) - Charlotte broke her absurd 40+ scoring streak with a bang this week, dropping 26 points with 2 players accounting for 14 of them. Shoot, 3 players accounted for 18. Shoot, 4 players accounted for 21. Shoot, 5 players accounted for 23. Shoot, 6 players accounted for 24. Shoot, 7 players accounted for 25. Shoot, 8 players accounted for 26. Okay you get the gist and the other players all scored 0. And if that exercise didn't illuminate it, Charlotte's team was also hit hard by the international break bug, missing Brobbey, Igor Jesus, Dorgu, Dalot(basically).
1 - Gavin (-) - League B - Last 5: 52 (W), 59 (W), 38 (W), 52 (W), 28 (L) - Luckily for Gavin, he did beat Charlotte's score since I was oh so close to swapping them if he didn't this week. And there's only so much you can blame injuries, but you totally can for Gavin's case because that 0 on his field might as well be a Jean-Philippe Mateta sized hole in his team because this guy must be in a full body cast or something because wtf happened to him. Oh, apparently he's expected back on October 18th. Nevermind then. Anyway, Gavin's got basically the same team he has in past weeks, but also I think he grabbed Justin recently so that saved him from a Fofana 0.
