Season 4 Weekly Update 37 - League B
Hello everyone and welcome to gameweek 37! This weekly update is coming to you from the bullet train between Tokyo and Osaka so my aim is for it to be fast. This week has matches on, Friday? Maybe? Waivers are due at 2:30am Japan time on Friday so feel free to convert that to your local timezone. Some crazy matches this week, including some close ones and some high scoring matchups. The former grouping was headlined by Travis's 28-26 victory over Divya, while the highest scoring match saw Chris defeat Alex by a score of 62-51. Elsewhere, John picked up a big win over Mack 59-46, I defeated Morgs with my third 40 in a row against her 36, and Emma took a close one against Andrew 43-39. Full results are as follows:
- Morgs 36-40 Matthew
- Travis 28-26 Divya
- Emma 43-39 Andrew
- ZachA 56-38 Cara
- Chris 62-51 Alex
- John 59-46 Mack

Weekly Matchups
Just 2 weeks left! With me and John keeping pace with one another at the top, still just 2 points separating us going into our head to head matchup. Alex's loss sees him now just 2 points ahead of Chris, whose win took him above Mack by a single point this week. ZachA also joined the race as his win sees him to 2 points behind Mack, now 1 ahead of Morgs.
Game Changers! Honestly I'm just going to list them since I didn't watch the games and maybe add some details if I have time to.
- Matthew: Elliot Anderson - 12 pts
- Travis: David Raya - 9 pts
- Emma: Phil Foden - 13 pts
- ZachA: Gianluigi Donnarumma - 14 pts
- Chris: James Tarkowski - 15 pts
- John: Gabriel Magalhaes - 11 pts
Halfway through May and ZachA takes the lead on PF over me! We remain the only 2 unbeaten teams this month.
Manager of the Month
Over on the form table, I take the top spot with 15/15 points earned! Mack and Chris are the lone pair on 12/15!
Form Table
This week will see some great matchups, headlined by what could (also, if you read the League A update) the title deciding match between me and John! Elsewhere, we have two huge matchups in the fight for 3rd in Mack vs Chris and Alex vs ZachA! Full matchups are as follows:
- Matthew (1) vs John (2) (all-time: 1-0-2, 122-155)
- Mack (4) vs Chris (5) (all-time: 2-0-1, 138-144)
- Alex (3) vs ZachA (7) (all-time: 2-0-1, 122-120)
- Cara (9) vs Emma (8) (all-time: 0-0-3, 90-135)
- Andrew (10) vs Travis (11) (all-time: 1-0-2, 107-124)
- Divya (12) vs Morgs (6) (all-time: 1-0-2, 85-92)
Shoutout this week to me for my 6 winstreak! And to ZachA for picking up back to back wins!

Champions Cup
Hello everyone and welcome to the finals of the Champions Cup! Before we jump into the two-legged final, we have to say goodbye to two managers: Matt and Luke. Matt went up against Zach and valiantly lost 61-37, while Luke narrowly missed out on the final round by a score of 46-40 against Mack.
- Zach 61-37 Matt
- Luke 40-46 Mack
Good luck to our finalists, it should be a very fun one!
Knockout Stage
The Run In
League A
The leaders continue leading as Darryan now needs Zach to lose both the head to head matchup this week along with the match vs Luke in the final gameweek. The race for 3rd is a little more interesting. This week's results mean that Dylan has joined me in the "can't come in 3rd" club, but Kevin and Jesse will now face off for the spot. Luke and MatthewR are also vying for the spot, with the winner of their head to head moving into "it could happen" distance. Dylan has by far the easiest remaining 2 fixtures and will be hoping to end the season on a high note (and possibly move up a couple spots). I'm just here to have fun and have the chance of spoiling Darryan's potential 2nd league title.
League A - Top 8
Matt and Coop are still just 4 points apart, but Coop goes up against Gavin this week and has a chance to take this to the final day. One win for Matt though and we'll see Coop in the playoff.
League A - Relegation Race
League B
John and I both pick up wins this week as we go into our GW37 head to head with the chance to probably(?) secure the title with a win! In the final week, I face off against Travis and John is against Cara, so, while loseable (see: Travis's 74 pointer against me earlier in the season), you have to imagine this is the title decider. A win for me secures it, a win for John means I need him to lose (and I need to win) in the final week.
League B - Title Race
And the promotion spots are still up for grabs, as Chris's win against Alex and Mack's loss means it is getting very crowded around that line. And we have some interesting matchups these last 2 weeks. This week, we'll see Alex vs ZachA. A win for Alex secures his spot in the promotion places, meaning he will at the very least be in the playoff. A win for Zach puts him on 64 points, just 2 behind Alex and either ahead of Mack, or even on points with Chris. Which brings us to Chris vs Mack. A win for Chris will secure his spot in the promotion places, while a win for Mack puts her into the promotion spots ahead of Chris going into the final week.
There's so many interesting scenarios here, which could see any one of these 4 qualify. I think Morgs' only chance relies on a draw between Mack and Chris, though. It could happen.
League B - Promotion Playoff Race
Promotion Playoff
As a reminder, this week will be the first week of the promotion playoff! So, for whoever finishes 4th (which we obviously don't know yet), your score from GW37 and GW38 will be totalled against either Matt or Coop's scores to determine who will be in League A next season! Which means, every point matters! Good luck :)
Power Rankings
On the bubble (in no order): Matt, Dylan, Morgs, Matthew, ZachA Fell off: Matt
10 - Chris (NEW) - League B - Last 5: 42 (W), 63 (W), 32 (W), 37 (L), 62 (W) - A solid double gameweek showing from Chris as he put up his 2nd 60+ point week in the last 5 off the back of Tarky turning into Everton's only goalscoring threat with a 1g1a 15 pointer, Watkins picking up his 12th of the season, and a splattering of clean sheets and defcons between his other DEFs and MIDs. Okay but why'd he bench Xhaka wtf.
9 - Jesse (-) - League A - Last 5: 43 (L), 66 (W), 31 (W), 28 (W), 52 (L) - An unlucky loss going up against the highest score of the week (and also League A #1), but a solid score considering Truffert's 9 pointer was the highest individual score for Jesse. Other points came from Sarr and Beto's goals, RAN getting a whacky start in the second match for City and keeping a cs, and Cherki getting a total of 70 minutes across both matches and finding an assist in his 11 minute appearances.
8 - Darryan (-1) - League A - Last 5: 32 (L), 73 (W), 24 (L), 36 (W), 47 (W) - A huge bounce back win for Darryan as Haaland did his job and got 11 points across the double gameweek. Wait, he played 0 minutes vs Crystal Palace? Pep? Anyway, the rest of Darryan's players couldn't crack 6 points, yet most did better than 2, so pretty solid week.
7 - Alex (+1) - League B - Last 5: 61 (W), 51 (L), 31 (L), 58 (W), 51 (L) - A second 51 pointer that has resulted in a loss for Alex in the last 5 weeks as his 2-pointer squad was led to a pretty good score by Gravenberch's (great goal), Bruno G doing something? to earn 2 bonus points on top of his defcon, an already mentioned Truffert clean sheet, and double Sunderland clean sheets. And, he's got a trio of 1 pointers on the bench. What an aesthetic scoring week for Alex.
6 - Luke (-1) - League A - Last 5: 58 (W), 63 (W), 48 (L), 45 (W), 40 (W) - That makes it 5 40+ weeks for Luke out of 5 on the board, but not a convincing one this week with the league A average sitting at nearly 46. Still, a win's a win and Luke has the Manchester United + Bournemouth defenses + Pascal Gross to thank for it. But at least Cole Palmer didn't miss a pen this week.
5 - John (+1) - League B - Last 5: 51 (W), 73 (W), 31 (L), 36 (L), 59 (W) - A solid return to form for John as he put up a huge score when he needed it against Mack this week. That's off the back of: a Gabriel 11 pointer, 8 from Hinshelwood, 7 from DCL's penalty, 6 from the best to every do it Pascal Gross and maybe the worst to ever do it JP Mateta, 5 from Nico O'Reilly, 4 from Canvot and Arsenal legend Konstantinos Mavropanos, 3 from washed up Bruno Fernandes and tbh pretty good Enzo Le Fee, and 2 from Hermansen, because why not play the West Ham keeper vs Arsenal.
4 - Kevin (-) - League A - Last 5: 51 (W), 66 (W), 34 (W), 60 (W), 54 (W) - Okay my producer is telling me I need to speed this up so we'll see how possible that is. Kevin's been absolutely cooking though, 5 wins in the last 5, with 4 being at 50+. Huge weeks from Gravenberch and Doku (what a pickup he's been). Bart and Mitchell and DCL are beatss. Other than for his injury spell KDH has been huge (8g7a).
3 - Matthew2 (-1) - League B - Last 5: 55 (W), 74 (W), 40 (W), 40 (W), 40 (W) - I am starting to get concerned. Why am I only scoring 40? Who has cursed me to this hell? Will I ever be able to score more? Will I ever be able to score less? Anyway shoutout to Anderson's 12 pointer and Senesi's 8 pointer and to Bart.
2 - Zach (+1) - League A - Last 5: 51 (W), 80 (W), 37 (W), 43 (W), 61 (W) - I mean 61 points will happen if you're getting 15 from Guehi, 10 from Harry Maguire (?), 10 from Ampadu, and 9 from Rayan. But is it sustainable? jk yes of course it is he's been winning nonstop and just needs 1 more to get it over the line. And if he doesn't have Maguire at the end of the season I might strip his title from him. haha I'm just kidding… unless…
1 - Mack (-) - League B - Last 5: 51 (W), 50 (W), 62 (W), 46 (W), 46 (L) - Unfortunately for Mack, her winning streak ends against John as 46 wasnt' greater than 59. Guehi and Semenyo combined for 27, while nobody did anything else. Actually, Andersen did a lot by getting a red card and -2 points. Still, Arsenal has Burnley and rotating Crystal Palace for the last 2, so Eze and Gyokeres are pretty nice to haves.
Good luck all!
