Hello everyone and welcome to double gameweek 33! Waivers this week are due Friday at 3:00am PDT / 6:00am EDT! Some pretty standard results this week, ;led by John fending Morgs off by a score of 51-35 and Chris picked up all 3 points against Travis, 42-35. Full results are as follows:

  • Matthew 55-30 Cara
  • Andrew 22-61 Alex
  • Divya 12-51 Mack
  • Morgs 35-51 John
  • Travis 35-42 Chris
  • Emma 23-46 ZachA

Weekly Matchups

And similarly, not a lot changing on the table either (but we'll go over it anyway!). Starting at the top, John keeps his spot at the head of the table by 4 points over me. I remain 3 points above Alex, who is still 8 above Chris and ZachA. That duo is 1 point ahead of Mack, who is now 3 points ahead of her sister.

Game Changers!

  • Matthew: Igor Thiago - 12 pts - The greatest Brazilian striker (maybe player) of all time continues his absurd season with 2 more goals in Brentford's 2-2 draw against Everton. That's 21 goals this season.
  • Alex: Jarrod Bowen - 14 pts - A triplet of assists and another week of defensive contribution points for the West Ham ~~center back~~forward who could only get 1 bonus point. What a bum.
  • Mack: Marc Guehi - 15 pts - A big week for the ex-Crystal Palace ~~forward~~center back as he scored his 3rd of the season and also kept a clean sheet against Chelsea.
  • John: Nico O'Reilly - 14 pts - Sacrificed his body for the cause as the young defender/midfielder/forward headed home a nice goal before being subbed early due to injury. Yikes. Beat Chelsea though.
  • Chris: Alex Scott - 12 pts - A well worked goal for the guy who stole Jamie Tartt's hair (I think that's his name). Unfortunately for Chris his FPL player played against his irl team and won.
  • ZachA: Taty Castellanos - 11 pts - Not sure what got into West Ham this weekend but they battered Wolves with this guy scoring 2 and doubling his tally in this abbreviated premier league season (for him). Solid signing Hammers o7

One week into April and Alex takes the top spot with 61 PF! Me, John, and Mack are the only 3 managers above 50 PF!

Manager of the Month

Taking a look at the form table, we see Alex, John, Mack, and Morgs all on 12/15 points in the past five weeks!

Form Table

This week will see some great matchups, headlined by a huge match in the promotion race between ZachA and Chris! Elsewhere, Morgs looks to pull off the upset against Alex and Travis takes on Mack! Full matchups are as follows:

  • Andrew (10) vs Matthew (2) (all-time: 1-0-1, 67-84)
  • Divya (12) vs Cara (9) (all-time: 1-0-1, 76-67)
  • Morgs (7) vs Alex (3) (all-time: 1-0-1, 81-68)
  • Travis (11) vs Mack (6) (all-time: 2-0-0, 76-52)
  • Emma (8) vs John (1) (all-time: 0-1-1, 65-67)
  • ZachA (5) vs Chris (4) (all-time: 2-0-0, 98-61)

Shoutout this week to Alex for his 4 winstreak! Also to Chris for 3 wins in a row and to me for back to back victories!

Champions Cup

Welcome to Gameweek 5 of the Champions Cup and the final week of the group stage! Some great matchups this week, led by two more draws: one between Zach and Mack at 51 a piece in Group C, and another between me and Morgs at 35 in Group D! Elsewhere, Kevin lost the shootout against Matthew2 in Group C 51-55, John defeated Dylan in a high scoring 51-47 match in Group D, and ZachA beat Chris by a narrow score of 46-42. The full results are as follows:

Group A:

  • Darryan 32-47 Matt
  • Luke 58-22 Andrew
  • Alex 61-23 Emma
  1. Alex - 10 pts - 192 PF
  2. Luke - 9 pts - 194 PF
  3. Darryan - 7 pts - 159 PF
  4. Matt - 6 pts - 137 PF
  5. Andrew - 3 pts - 111 PF
  6. Emma - 0 pts - 82 PF

Following this week's results Alex takes a single point lead of Group A ahead of Luke, with Darryan trailing just a couple points behind. Only Matt has a risk of not qualifying, but Andrew will need to win and overcome a 26 PF gap. This week will see the following matchups:

  • Darryan vs Luke
  • Matt vs Emma
  • Alex vs Andrew

Group B:

  • MatthewR 29-20 Gavin
  • Jesse 43-35 Travis
  • ZachA 46-42 Chris
  1. Jesse - 12 pts - 186 PF
  2. MatthewR - 12 pts - 152 PF
  3. ZachA - 6 pts - 143 PF
  4. Chris - 3 pts - 121 PF
  5. Gavin - 3 pts - 106 PF
  6. Travis - 0 pts - 95 PF

This week's results see Jesse and MatthewR continue their winstreaks to an undefeated 12 points each, leading into the head to head for 1st in the group this week! ZachA is basically safe following his win against Chris, with the real drama in the winner of Gavin vs Chris qualifying for the knockout rounds! This week we'll see the following matchups:

  • MatthewR vs Jesse
  • Gavin vs Chris
  • ZachA vs Travis

Group C:

  • Zach 51-51 Mack
  • Kevin 51-55 Matthew2
  • Scott 18-12 Divya
  1. Matthew2 - 12 pts - 210 PF
  2. Scott - 9 pts - 115 PF
  3. Kevin - 6 pts - 171 PF
  4. Mack - 4 pts - 181 PF
  5. Zach - 4 pts - 148 PF
  6. Divya - 0 pts - 72 PF

In what might just be the most interesting group, we have Matthew2 at an undefeated 12 points, followed by Scott who has qualified for the knockouts after his win. Meanwhile, Kevin is somehow not quite safe at 6 points, as he either must win vs Zach, or needs Mack to lose against Scott to confirm his spot in the knockout stage. Matchups are as follows:

  • Zach vs Kevin
  • Scott vs Mack
  • Matthew2 vs Divya

Group D:

  • Matthew 35-35 Morgs
  • Dylan 47-51 John
  • Coop 42-30 Cara
  1. John - 9 pts - 178 PF
  2. Morgs - 7 pts - 170 PF
  3. Matthew - 7 pts - 140 PF
  4. Dylan - 6 pts - 187 PF
  5. Coop - 6 pts - 173 PF
  6. Cara - 0 pts - 122 PF

Wait actually, this one might be more interesting. John sits top of the table currently, but if he loses, any of Morgs/me/Dylan/Coop could pass him. And basically, the only guarantee for the knockouts(other than John) is Morgs, and that's only because if Dylan and Coop win, I would have to overcome a 30 PF deficit to pass her.

  • Matthew vs Dylan
  • Coop vs Morgs
  • John vs Cara

And here is a view of the entire group stage as it stands!

The Run In

Welcome to the new section where we zoom in on some of the fun races we have at the end of the season! With just 6 weeks left (and a big double gameweek this week), I thought it was a good time to put together at least some difficult-to-read charts. I'll also add and remove people from these if there is any notable movement in the table as the weeks pass!

League A

Starting at the top (8) of League A, we have a couple of interesting races going on. The most important one (of course) is the title race, which is mostly between Zach and Darryan but honestly it could go to anyone at this point in time. The other key race is for 3rd, which is our final place for prizing in League A!

League A - Top 8

The other key race in League A is at the relegation line, where Matt and Coop are currently battling it out to not have to play a playoff against the 3rd place finisher in League B.

League A - Relegation Race

League B

Over in League B, we also have what should be an interesting title race between myself and John!

League B - Title Race

But the most drama is coming from that playoff spot in 4th place! Since my League B team is not eligible to be promoted, that means League B #4 will face off against #10 in League A for the final spot in League A next season. And currently, that race is between four managers: Chris, ZachA, Mack, and Morgs.

League B - Promotion Playoff Race

Power Rankings

On the bubble (in no order): Chris, Coop, Morgs Fell off: Morgs

10 - Luke (NEW) - League A - Last 5: 37 (D), 56 (W), 44 (W), 36 (L), 58 (W) - Welcome Luke to the list! Finally he has escaped 'On the bubble (in no order)' purgatory and found his way here after a 58 point week and a pretty solid run of form. This week's performance was brought to you by Mats Wieffer though, who played right back (as a MID) and found himself scoring a brace and also hitting defcon. And he's got a double gameweek this week. Is he the best player in the Premier League? I'm sure Luke thinks so. Anyway, Thiago has also been finding form once again, Groß was perhaps the signing of the Winter, and Senesi is back to his defensive contributing ways. Plus only one of Isak and Ekitike is allowed to be healthy at a time and the dice has rolled Luke's way (for now).

9 - Alex (+1) - League B - Last 5: 39 (L), 43 (W), 60 (W), 28 (W), 61 (W) - A second 60+ week in the last 3 for Alex, this time he earned 33 points from 3 players as he welcomed Roefs back into the lineup. His 11 points were joined by fellow Sunderland clean sheeter Alderete (8 points) and Bowen, who of course had 14. Still a few solid scores around, including Konate and Kroupi each picking up 6 and Truffert and Szoboszlai in the 4-5 range. Maybe having 7 players from 2 teams does work out?

8 - Kevin (-) - League A - Last 5: 37 (D), 51 (W), 45 (W), 24 (L), 51 (W) - The first of a surprising number of 51 pointers this week, Kevin had a plethora of solid performances, including 9 points from Bart and KDH, 8 from Doku, and 5-6 pointers from Mitchell, Frimpong, and Gyokeres. And that's after benching Roefs and Konate who both returned. I get it though the 51 pointer was the goal.

7 - Zach (-) - League A - Last 5: 54 (W), 31 (L), 33 (L), 33 (W), 51 (W) - A huge bounce back to save his spot on this list and take his place at the top of League A after some doubt may have been cast on his team over the past few weeks. However, if you did take his points from Guehi (15) and regress them to the mean (6), he would only have 42 points so really did he even do that well? Jokes aside, an assist from Morgan Rogers in back to back matches, a couple extra clean sheets from Ferdi and Nunes, and another couple defcon returns from Sangare and Gomez made up for the fact that Saka is in confusing Arteta press conference land and Ekitike is now out for the season.

6 - Jesse (-) - League A - Last 5: 39 (W), 55 (W), 39 (W), 49 (W), 43 (L) - Despite the loss and his winstreak coming to an end, Jesse managed to overcome the adversity and leave 17 points on his bench and still put up 43 points. A solid week to have double Liverpool defense + Casemiro. A rough week to own a Wolves defender and Romero (who was badly injured vs Sunderland). Anyway, this is Glasner's favorite time of the year so JSL and Sarr will probably be the best 2 players to own in the game.

5 - Darryan (-3) - League A - Last 5: 43 (W), 65 (W), 34 (L), 28 (L), 32 (L) - 3 losses in 3 and not a score over 34 since his 65 pointer definitely puts some question marks around Darryan's title chances in the run in. That said, if he can figure out his bench, Xhaka, Scott, Rodri, and Haaland ahead of a couple Arsenal defenders and Kelleher seems like it could be enough to take him to the promised land (if he can beat Zach in their head to head).

4 - Dylan (+1) - League A - Last 5: 48 (L), 40 (L), 62 (W), 38 (W), 47 (W) - Another solid high 40 point week from Dylan as he went unpunished for benching Mukiele's 14 pointer due to the Janelt injury. A sprinkle of returns from Salah, Van Hecke, Gabriel, and (of course) Szoboszlai helped overcome the Barry/Dango/Minteh black hole that has started to form on his team. Still though, he keeps putting up scores and keeps winning so he's within striking distance of Zach, even.

3 - John (+1) - League B - Last 5: 41 (W), 59 (W), 36 (W), 32 (L), 51 (W) - The other Gabriel owner also enjoyed a 14 pointer from a different defender (Nico O'Reilly). Unlike Dylan, however, John left 33 points on his bench. And that's with Martinez and Stach both earning 0 points. So honestly, maybe John should switch with Dylan for not being able to sign into his account last week to change his lineup? Jokes aside, the League B #1 has been cruising off the back of 2 of the top 3 scorers in the game. So not much to report on there.

2 - Mack (+1) - League B - Last 5: 35 (W), 49 (W), 42 (W), 39 (L), 51 (W) - The final "51 (W)" of this week came from Mack, whose 15 pointer from Guehi combined with the KDH and Casemiro 9 pointers to overcome a triplet of 1s. Plus, Gyokeres scored again. Which is a bit better than what can be said about Strand Larsen, whose substitute came in and scored 2.

1 - Matthew2 (-) - League B - Last 5: 31 (L), 67 (W), 51 (L), 37 (W), 55 (W) - A pretty good team effort this week sees my third 50+ week in the last 5 off the back of 5 players getting 4 or 5 points, Salah, Bart, and Thiago all getting 8+, and Murillo scoring the obligatory own goal. Because why not have back to back own goals on both of my teams? Anyway, I also dropped Wieffer before his 18 pointer, so this could've been a 72 point week.

Good luck all!
