Season 4 Weekly Update 35 - League A
Hello everyone and welcome to gameweek 35! Another week with Friday matches means waivers are due Thursday at 10:30am PDT / 1:30pm EDT (if I get this out before then, otherwise free agency is open). Blank weeks always come with interesting results, led by Matt's high scoring 49-48 victory over Luke! Elsewhere, Kevin picked up the upset win against Darryan 34-24, Zach narrowly escaped vs Gavin 37-31, and I defeated Coop in our 27-22 shootout. Full results are as follows:
- Coop 22-27 Matthew
- Gavin 31-37 Zach
- Darryan 24-34 Kevin
- Jesse 31-21 Scott
- Dylan 23-38 MatthewR

Weekly Matchups
Just 4 weeks left! And Zach has extended his lead to 5 points at the top of the table following Darryan's loss! Darryan is also now just 1 point ahead of Jesse. 5 points back of Jesse, Kevin leads the charge for 4th, a single point ahead of MatthewR and 3 ahead of Luke. Dylan sits just 1 behind him, level on points with me.
Game Changers!
- Matthew: Daniel Munoz - 6 pts - A week of narrow margins saw my highest score come from the Liverpool clean sheet wiping goal as Munoz chipped one in after Woodman went down.
- Zach: Benjamin Sesko - 8 pts - Big week for the Slovenian striker as he scored Bruno Fernandes's 19th Premier League assist this season and also hit double digits. Solid returns from the new guy who had to start his Manchester United life under Amorim.
- Kevin: Morgan Gibbs-White - 13 pts - Back to back double digits for the ever-present hyphenated name on Kevin's team as Nottingham Forest just absolutely cooked Sunderland 5-0 this weekend.
- Jesse: Casemiro - 12 pts - 13th goal contribution for Casemiro as he makes his victory lap with another headed goal, this time against Brentford as United went on to win 2-1.
- MatthewR: Joachim Andersen - 11 pts - In a game I'm not sure anyone watched, Andersen picked up a clean sheet, 15 defcon, and all 3 bonus as Fulham defeated Aston Villa 1-0, apparently.
- Matt: Igor Jesus - 14 pts - A huge week for the Nottingham Forest FWD as he picks up back to back goals alongside 2 assists to barely beat MGW head to head.
Congratulations to Zach for winning April Manager of the Month! He picked up a flawless 9/9 points and finished 17 PF ahead of Kevin! This is his 4th Manager of the Month award this season!
Manager of the Month
Over on the form table, Zach of course takes the top spot with 12/15 points! He is joined by Jesse, Kevin, and Matt who all also have 4 wins in their last 5 matches!
Form Table
This week will see some great matchups, headlined by a huge match in the race for 3rd (or 2nd?) between MatthewR and Jesse! Elsewhere, I take on Luke in what should be an interesting (and impactful) one, Matt faces off against Dylan, and Zach will look to keep his lead with a match against Coop. Full matchups are as follows:
- Matthew (8) vs Luke (6) (all-time: 3-0-5, 300-300)
- Matt (9) vs Dylan (7) (all-time: 4-0-2, 200-198)
- MatthewR (5) vs Jesse (3) (all-time: 5-0-7, 424-458)
- Scott (11) vs Darryan (2) (all-time: 6-0-4, 359-382)
- Kevin (4) vs Gavin (12) (all-time: 4-0-4, 292-279)
- Zach (1) vs Coop (10) (all-time: 3-0-2, 201-202)
Shoutout this week to Zach for his 4 winstreak! And to Kevin for 3 in a row and Jesse for picking up back to back wins!

Champions Cup
Hello everyone and welcome to the quarter finals of the Champions Cup! We had some great matchups in the Round of 16, headlined by Chris's narrow 32-31 win over John! Elsewhere, Matt's 49 pointer was enough to knock out Matthew2, Zach found some points on the last day to find a 37-31 win over Alex, and Mack put up a week-high 62 points to defeat Darryan's 24 pointer! And here are the full matchups:
Top Half:
Alex 31-37 Zach
Morgs 30-22 ZachA
Matthew2 40-49 Matt
MatthewR 38-27 Matthew
Bottom Half
Jesse 31-23 Dylan
Scott 21-48 Luke
John 31-32 Chris
Darryan 24-62 Mack
And with that, we have our quarter final matchups set! Headlined by a League B promotion race rivalry match between Chris and Mack! Full matchups are as follows:
Top Half:
- Zach vs Morgs
- Matt vs MatthewR
Bottom Half:
- Jesse vs Luke
- Chris vs Mack
Good luck in the quarters!
Knockout Stage
The Run In
League A
And starting with the top 8, MatthewR moves up to 5th following his win. However, he does have the most difficult opponent this week as he will take on Jesse! Me, Luke, and Dylan all go up against similarly ranked opposition, whereas the non-Jesse 3 of the top 4 go up against the bottom 3.
League A - Top 8
And Matt pulls away slightly with his win against Luke! The gap over Coop grows to 4 points!
League A - Relegation Race
League B
The title race in League B is tightening up as John's loss means his lead is just 1 point over me! And we're almost to that head to head match in GW37 that could decide who wins the title!
League B - Title Race
Chris, Mack, and Morgs keep up their winning ways and start mounting pressure on Alex, whose 2 losses in a row cut his lead in 3rd to just 1 point over Chris! Fortunately for him, he has an opportunity this week to get back to winning ways vs Travis, while Chris goes up against me. ZachA also continues his tough stretch as he takes on John.

Power Rankings
These are gonna be a bit short because it's late…
On the bubble (in no order): Dylan, Chris, Morgs Fell off: Dylan
10 - Matt (NEW) - League A - Last 5: 35 (W), 35 (W), 47 (W), 46 (L), 49 (W) - 4 wins in 5 and 3 40+ weeks in a row sees Matt rejoin this list after a brief hiatus! This run has been brought to you by end-of-season Bowen, Igor Jesus saw that Chris Wood was back and turned into Haaland, and Sessegnon scored his first goal since week 10 and promptly decided to get injured. Anyway, he's also got O'Reilly so basically he has the best team in the league for the last few games.
9 - Alex (+1) - League B - Last 5: 60 (W), 28 (W), 61 (W), 51 (L), 31 (L) - A rough week for Alex but it isn't every day you see Nottingham Forest 5-0 Sunderland on the scoreboard. Plus his 4 midfielders combined for 5 points. And two of those 1 pointers were Liverpool players (can we get a flashback to the power rankings section on him from a couple weeks ago). Hey wait a second, this guy has 4 Liverpool players, 3 Bournemouth players, 2 Sunderland, Newcastle, and Brentford players, Pickford and Bowen. @luke remember the season where you have like 6 duos? I think we've got a repeat of that on our hands. Anyway, Bowen is the only player who scored over 4 this week for Alex.
8 - Luke (+1) - League A - Last 5: 44 (W), 36 (L), 58 (W), 63 (W), 48 (L) - A vintage Luke performance to put up the 2nd highest score this week and lose to the #1. Anyway, he somehow willed 8 points from Pedro Porro, 9 from Aina, and another 9 from Hincapie, along with Isak's first goal since GW17 to fall just short. Could have been due to the three 2 pointers, two 1 pointers, and 7 points left on the bench, but who knows.
7 - Kevin (+1) - League A - Last 5: 45 (W), 24 (L), 51 (W), 66 (W), 34 (W) - Big win for Kevin this week as his blank-heavy team was dragged kicking and screaming by Morgan Gibbs-White and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as the hyphen-bros combined for 21 points. Which was more than enough to cancel out the triplet of 0s and triplet of 1s that his other players provided.
6 - Jesse (-) - League A - Last 5: 39 (W), 49 (W), 43 (L), 66 (W), 31 (W) - Jesse also survived the week with a low score, but other than Casemiro pulling an MGW, the rest of his team did actually make an effort. VVD, Mavropanos, and Sarr all had 4+, and everyone else basically blanked. And still, week after week, Jesse's goalkeepers keep injuring themselves to get away from his FPL team.
5 - Darryan (-1) - League A - Last 5: 34 (L), 28 (L), 32 (L), 73 (W), 24 (L) - In a must-win week, Darryan's team decisively did not win, as Alex Scott was sorely missed and Darryan could barely scrape by with his only returns coming from Saliba (7) and Bassey (6). He's going to need Haaland to lock in like he's never locked in before if Darryan wants to win this thing.
4 - John (-2) - League B - Last 5: 36 (W), 32 (L), 51 (W), 73 (W), 31 (L) - The current League B leader is in a similar predicament (this week) as his dropped points open the door for Matthew2. Although maybe his situation is a little less dire, considering his only return was from Gabriel, but he does have Bruno Fernandes and the goat DCL. Plus triple West Ham could be the move. Why not?
3 - Zach (+2) - League A - Last 5: 33 (L), 33 (W), 51 (W), 80 (W), 37 (W) - Zach's team is winning when it needs to and just needs to hold on a little longer to secure the title. Though, the vast majority of his points this week came from a Maguire assist and Robertson goal, so who even knows at this point. Double City defenders + Pablo could be the best trio of players in the game though.
2 - Matthew2 (-1) - League B - Last 5: 51 (L), 37 (W), 55 (W), 74 (W), 40 (W) - On one hand, Salah getting injured on his celebratory tour isn't great prospects. On the other hand, who needs Mo Salah when you've got Elliot Anderson? Anyway, I got solid performances out of Leno, Munoz, and Porro while my Bournemouth players + Bart took a brief respite. And Thiago wouldn't dare go 3 games in a row without scoring… right?
1 - Mack (+2) - League B - Last 5: 42 (W), 39 (L), 51 (W), 50 (W), 62 (W) - 62 points in a blank week where Semenyo, Guehi, and Dubravka all miss out on the fun? Mack must have sacrificed her FWD scores for basically every other player to return considering her lowest non-FWD was a 3 from Garner. She also had double Nottingham Forest defense returns, Dalot's defcon, Andersen and Casemiro's huge hauls, plus the KDH and Eze goals. Should make for an interesting last few weeks :eyes:
Good luck all!
