League Table

Weekly Matchups

Once again seeing a lot of movement across the league table, as Darryan's lead at the top over Zach increases to 4 points. Zach's lead over 3rd (which is now occupied by Jesse on PF) drops to just 6 points, as Jesse and MatthewR move to 3 points ahead of me. Kevin and Luke see movement up the table to just 2 points behind, leapfrogging Dylan by a single point with their wins. Further down, Coop moves up to 9th with his win, equal on points with Scott and 2 ahead of Matt.

Game Changers! Brought to you this week by Chris! Shoutout Chris!

  • Jesse: Ismaila Sarr - 15 pts - The man who’s won two more African Cup of Nations than Wilson has (so far) bagged a brace this week. Although maybe with a literal helping hand of a certain Tottenham defender (who shall not be named because I’m still mad at him). A coolly taken penalty and a deft touch to take it past Vicario for his brace. Did he kill the last bit of joy Tottenham fans had?
  • Darryan: Jurrien Timber - 13 pts - who needs to attack when you can just defend for 80+ minutes? A bit lucky on the assist, but solid defensive display
  • Luke: Marcos Senesi - 11 pts - Watching through the highlights, how did this man get another 10 defensive contributions? I don’t even think they mentioned his name once?? Almost as invisible as James Wilson (why’d nobody tell me spurs was hiding a Wilson??). But alas, death, taxes, and a Senesi defensive masterclass.
  • Coop: Elliot Anderson - 12 pts - A goal Harry would be proud of! A sweet curling effort driven from outside the box. Brought a tear of joy to every Arsenal fan around the world. Maybe not what Coop wanted to see.
  • MatthewR - James Tarkowski - 15 pts - His first goal in 384 days, when he his volley didn’t quite break the roof of the net (but certainly broke Liverpool hearts). He said goodbye to Goodison with a goal and now says hello to Hill Dickinson. 15 points secured.
  • Kevin: João Pedro - 19 pts - Born 6004 miles and 1,649 days away from Wrexham and the man, the myth, the legend; João Pedro picks up his first premier league hattrick. And hip-nudges his way to an assist. What a day out for the kid who reminds me I’m washed and old

And to start the month of March, Darryan takes the lead on PF! Luke, Jesse, and Kevin all have 1 win and over 50 PF as we finish the first week of the 4 gameweek month.

Manager of the Month

And taking a look at the form table, Zach narrowly takes the top spot on PF above Darryan and Jesse, with all 3 having earned 12/15 available points!

Champions Cup

Welcome to Gameweek 2 of the Champions Cup! Some great results across the groups this week, headlined by a thriller between Kevin and Mack in Group C where Kevin prevailed 51-49! Dylan pulled off a similar result over in Group D as he defeated Morgs by a score of 40-38, and in the same group John picked up a big 3 points with his 59-47 win against Coop! The other notable matchup this week came from Group B, as Gavin's misery evidently continues outside of League A, as his 42 pointer was rebuked by ZachA's 51 points. The full results are as follows:

Group A:

  • Darryan 65-42 Andrew
  • Luke 56-16 Emma
  • Matt 20-43 Alex

Group B:

  • MatthewR 39-28 Travis
  • Jesse 55-34 Chris
  • Gavin 42-51 ZachA

Group C:

  • Zach 31-22 Divya
  • Kevin 51-49 Mack
  • Scott 20-67 Matthew2

Group D:

  • Matthew 42-22 Cara
  • Dylan 40-38 Morgs
  • Coop 47-59 John

And next week we will see some great matchups, led by what should be a really interesting cross-league matchup between MatthewR and Chris in Group B! Other matchups to note include Jesse vs ZachA, also in Group B, the big matchup in Group A between week 1 winners Luke and Alex, Matthew2 vs Mack in Group C for an important intra-league match, and my League A team vs Coop in Group D should be fun. Full matchups are as follows:

Group A:

  • Darryan vs Emma
  • Luke vs Alex
  • Matt vs Andrew

Group B:

  • MatthewR vs Chris
  • Jesse vs ZachA
  • Gavin vs Travis

Group C:

  • Zach vs Scott
  • Kevin vs Divya
  • Scott vs Mack

Group D:

  • Matthew vs Coop
  • Dylan vs Cara
  • John vs Morgs

And here is a view of the entire group stage as it stands!

Power Rankings

On the bubble (in no order): Matt, Luke, Alex, Andrew, ZachA Fell off: Matt

10 - Chris (-1) - League B - Last 5: 36 (L), 42 (L), 38 (W), 43 (L), 34 (L) - 1 win in the last 6 for Chris doesn't look great, but he's still scoring pretty decently on average even with a -3 from Van de Ven and -1 from Matty Cash this week. We'll see if he can recover though, with Saliba being in and out of the team, his talisman version of Wilson being injured, and a lot of his team relying on defcon points, he may need some of his players to lock in during the run in if he wants to close the gap on the promotion spots.

9 - Jesse (NEW) - League A - Last 5: 27 (L), 58 (W), 36 (W), 39 (W), 55 (W) - 4 wins in a row for Jesse sends him up to 3rd in the League A table off the back of Sarr going off, Casemiro proving he may be the best midfielder in the game, and Garner challenging the claim that was just made. And, he just added the Spurs keeper to his roster. What could go wrong? And need I even mention the goat Strand Larsen up top, now with 3 goals this season for Crystal Palace.

8 - Dylan (-) - League A - Last 5: 52 (L), 41 (W), 32 (W), 48 (L), 40 (L) - So… uh… last week I said: The symmetry of me removing a 48 (L) from the beginning of Dylan's 'Last 5' section and putting it at the end of the section was kinda beautiful. And I'm excited to do the same next week with a 40 (L). Need I say more? Okay I guess I'll say more: Salah finally returned (as Liverpool lost to Wolves), Gabriel returned, and Szoboszlai and Richards hit defcon (so, as expected), but there sure are a lot of 1s and 0s elsewhere. Maybe Brobbey coming back will be the solution.

7 - Matthew (-) - League A - League A - Last 5: 40 (W), 70 (W), 38 (L), 27 (W), 42 (L) - Sometimes you win with 27 one week and lose with 42 the next -_-. It would've been nice if Munoz had not gotten injured for the goalfest vs Spurs, and if FPL hadn't stolen my bonus point from Kerkez, but at least Hill and Semenyo have my back. And somehow Solanke is the only player on Spurs who can do anything these days.

6 - Kevin (-) - League A - Last 5: 67 (W), 45 (L), 63 (W), 37 (D), 51 (W) - Another big week from Kevin off the back of a Joao Pedro 19 pointer. Along with the Frimpong clean sheet and KDH goal, Kevin could afford to leave the Thiaw 4 pointer and MGW 8 points on his bench (sidenote: what a goal). Plus, he has the luxury of Keane playing cheerleader. The rest of us would kill to have Michael Keane last on our bench.

5 - Zach (-2) - League A - Last 5: 41 (W), 54 (W), 52 (W), 54 (W), 31 (L) - Oh don't worry, I'm sure Zach will drop 60 this week and force me to bounce him back up the ranking. But regardless, I guess this is what happens when Sesko doesn't score, Manchester City can't keep a clean sheet, and Ekitike plays against the best team in the league. I am interested to see how Zach ends the season though, with Saka and Rogers out of form, Manchester City in a tough run of congested fixtures, and Liverpool doing who even knows what.

4 - Mack (+1) - League B - Last 5: 30 (L), 52 (W), 46 (W), 35 (W), 49 (W) - Another solid week for Mack as 37 of her 49 points came from her midfielders, as Semenyo, KDH, Garner, and Casemiro all took home 7-10 points. The only player not in that category to get more than 2 points? Strand Larsen.

3 - John (+1) - League B - Last 5: 61 (W), 46 (W), 64 (W), 41 (W), 59 (W) - The 3rd 59+ (cmon John why couldn't you score 1 more so I could say 60+) week for John in the last 5 as he just appears to be incapable of scoring less than 40 these days. The {first_name}.Fernandes squad is just too strong I guess. This week though it was the Gabriel and Summerville show as they both found their way to the number 11. Plus, Hermansen is a beast?

2 - Darryan (-) - League A - Last 5: 51 (W), 24 (L), 46 (W), 43 (W), 65 (W) - I did not realize how important it was that Darryan had both Saliba and Marmoush get 0 minutes this week, considering he had the 11 pointer from Summerville subbed in. That would have been devastating on Alex's 'points left on bench' chart. Anyway, it doesn't even seem like the Haaland owner needs Haaland, considering his GKP/DEF combined for 36 points (that's 4 players), Rodri scored a goal off of Semenyo, and Summerville is probably the best player in the league. And you can't overlook the fact that this 65 pointer only included 1 of his 3 Arsenal defenders.

1 - Matthew2 (-) - League B - Last 5: 45 (W), 39 (L), 43 (W), 31 (L), 67 (W) - Ya know, this really would have been the week where Darryan overtook me and moved into this spot. But alas, he is my neighbor Darryan. He is pain in my assholes. I get a Bournemouth defender, he gets a Bournemouth defender. I get Daniel Ballard, he gets Daniel Ballard. I get 67 pointer, he cannot afford. Great success!

Good luck all!
