Season 4 Weekly Update 27 - League A

Hello everyone and welcome to gameweek 27! Waivers this week are due tomorrow morning at 5:30am PST / 8:30am EST! Some great matchups across the board this week, led by the narrow 36-34 win by Coop against Gavin! Elsewhere, Jesse took a high scoring 58-45 win over Kevin, I beat Matt with a week high 70 points to his 46, and Zach pulled off a big win against Darryan 54-24! Full results are as follows:

  • Matthew 70-46 Matt
  • MatthewR 29-53 Luke
  • Scott 19-41 Dylan
  • Kevin 45-58 Jesse
  • Zach 54-24 Darryan
  • Coop 36-34 Gavin

League Table

Weekly Matchups

And taking a look at the league table, the title race is heating up! With Zach's head to head win against Darryan, the League A #1's lead has been cut to just a single point! And with his win, Zach moves 3 points clear of MatthewR! Who is 3 points ahead of myself. The conglomerate of Dylan, Jesse, and Luke leaves Kevin in their collective dust as they keep pace 3 points behind me. Just a bit further down, Coop cuts the gap behind Matt down to 1 point.

Game Changers!

  • Matthew: Antoine Semenyo - 14 pts - Crazy when this transfer went through the entirety of the fantasyPL subreddit thought Semenyo was washed. Well look at him now, 3 goals and an assist since joining City including 1g1a this weekend.
  • Luke: Piero Hincapie - 15 pts - Who would've thought the best Arsenal player for the double gameweek would've been Hincapie, who pulled a Semenyo and got a goal and assist this week. Although, the assist was against Brentford and goal against Wolves. Both of whom Arsenal drew against.
  • Dylan: Jose Sa - 13 pts - The goat showed up against Nottingham Forest as Wolves strategically conceded 34 shots so that their goalkeeper could make 10 saves and pick up a 13 pointer (if you include the 1 point he got against Arsenal too).
  • Jesse: Virgil van Dijk - 17 pts - A vintage van Dijk game as he scored the winning (and only) goal against Sunderland, kept a clean sheet, and hit defcon to score a huge 17 points.
  • Zach: Bukayo Saka - 13 pts - Defcon beast CAM Saka showed up against Wolves with 18 defensive contributions in 72 minutes (plus a headed goal), to pull a Jose Sa and score 12 points in one match of the double.
  • Coop: Lukas Nmecha - 11 pts - Huge week for Nmecha and Leeds as they rescued a 2-2 draw against Chelsea from a goal and assist from the German (including the assist coming from one of the odder goals you'll see this season).

Halfway through February and I've taken the lead on PF above Luke and Zach!

Manager of the Month

Taking a look at the form table, I take the top spot on PF over Zach with 12/15 points earned in the last 5!

Form Table

The League

Welcome to gameweek 8 of the knockout rounds of The League (tm) and the first gameweek of the two-legged finals! But first, how did our second week of semi finals go?

It's been a little while, so a quick reminder of the scores going into this week:

  • Darryan 51-45 Matthew2
  • Andrew 43-52 Dylan

And following this week's results, I'd like to congratulate Matthew2 and Dylan for reaching the final round!

My come from behind win by 39-24 in the second leg was enough to defeat Darryan 84-75, and Dylan's sweep of Andrew totaled to a 93-81 victory!

Good luck to our finalists!

Knockout Stage

Power Rankings

On the bubble (in no order): Matt, Alex, Andrew, ZachA Fell off: ZachA (kinda)

10 - Dylan (-) - League A - Last 5: 49 (W), 48 (L), 40 (L), 52 (L), 41 (W) - Just a heads up, probably a pretty quick set of power rankings blurbs because it's already… midnight and I really need to send this out before… 5:30am. And also I need to go to sleep. But great work by Dylan getting to 5 straight 40+ weeks and 2 wins in those weeks. This week brought to you by a Jose Sa 13 pointer and not a lot else. I guess a Gabriel assist in a double gameweek, Salah assist, and Van Hecke clean sheet is alright, but still a lot of 2s and 1s and 0s.

9 - MatthewR (-2) - League A - Last 5: 37 (W), 49 (W), 27 (L), 38 (W), 29 (L) - Uh oh, MatthewR's back in the spin cycle with another rough week where his high scorer was Diouf, who was saved by getting subbed off before Manchester United happened to score. But hey, Gordon scored 4 in the Champions League this week so surely he will pop off against Manchester City away?

8 - Kevin (-2) - League A - Last 5: 36 (L), 27 (L), 47 (W), 67 (W), 45 (L) - An unfortunate week going against Jesse's 58 pointer, but still solid performances from Thiaw, Joao Pedro, and his Liverpool duo of Konate and Gravenberch to put up 45. That's 5 returns from Joao Pedro in a row, by the way.

7 - Zach (+2) - League A - Last 5: 21 (L), 35 (W), 40 (W), 41 (W), 54 (W) - Zach is back on track with 4 wins in a row and 3 40+ weeks, including this week's win against Darryan. Adli turned out to be a huge pickup, Guehi on City is looking solid, and Saka did something for the first time in quite a while. Plus, maybe Sesko will get a start eventually? Although he does seem to be maybe the best player in the Premier League when he's coming off the bench.

6 - Chris (-2) - League B - Last 5: 35 (L), 52 (W), 39 (L), 36 (L), 42 (L) - A decent score for Chris heavily weighted toward the 14 pointer from Rice's double gameweek and an 8 point return for Neco Williams. However, he pulled a Dylan (a Gavin?) and found a loss at 40+. Maybe the key is Caicedo defensive contributions - how did he only get 8? Did he even play?

5 - Matthew (+3) - League A - Last 5: 28 (W), 38 (W), 34 (L), 40 (W), 70 (W) - Hell yeah time to overreact to my 70 pointer woooo. 14 from Semenyo, 13 from Madueke (I never doubted him), 8 from Emi, 8 from Hugo Bueno (who btw should have had +2 from bonus after the Opta recalculations today (and also was subbed less than ~30 seconds before getting +5 in the first match)), 9 from new defcon beast Hill, and woah no way Foden got an assist. Now to just repeat that like 11 more times.

4 - John (+1) - League B - Last 5: 32 (W), 43 (L), 43 (L), 61 (W), 46 (W) - A huge win and week for John as he moves into 1st in League B off the back of returns from Emi Martinez, Gabriel, Konsa, and O'Reilly. Sadly the Summerville goalscoring streak has ended :'(

3 - Mack (-) - League B - Last 5: 28 (L), 45 (L), 41 (W), 30 (L), 52 (W) - Highest score in League B and a huge week from Semenyo and Strand Larsen, combining for 27 points from 3 goals and an assist between them. Apparently JSL is good? Or Burnley is bad? The jury is out I guess until he scores against a team not formally coached by Vincent Kompany.

2 - Darryan (-) - League A - Last 5: 36 (L), 31 (W), 61 (W), 51 (W), 24 (L) - Darryan's teetering scarily close to MatthewR territory with a couple of 50+ weeks sandwiched by a 24 and 31. Fairly unfortunate though, with his 4 Arsenal players playing 2 matches this week and coming home with a whole 9 points total. That's the same amount of points as Haaland + Rodri + Cherki.

1 - Matthew2 (-) - League B - Last 5: 31 (L), 44 (W), 49 (W), 45 (W), 39 (L) - Not a bad week but also the team decided they didn't want to clutch up for the match against John. Hill I guess did something, but 3 5/6 pointers in midfield and a 4 pointer from a DGW 180' just wasn't enough. Good attempt Wolves lads o7.

Good luck all!
